
There is a range of good quality, locally made products in the Seychelles.
Kreolor Jewellery uses natural materials found on the islands and some product lines have already established themselves such as the famous coco de mer pendant and earrings. They also offer a wide variety of craft items including costume jewellery, interior decorative objects and desk accessories, all made from wood and natural products.
The Black Pearl Shop, on Praslin sells a selection of high-class jewellery and other creations made from locally cultivated pearls from the Seychelles ‘Black Lip Oyster’.
Work by Thoughts Stained Glass offers hand crafted glasswork including mobiles, individual glass fish, clocks, mirrors, bowls and 'Tiffany-style' lamps.
Seypot is a co-operative of Seychelles potters specialising in handcrafted ceramic pottery. Items are on display and on sale at the workshop at the SIDEC Industrial Zone in Union Vale. Visitors are welcome daily.
Later Rouz/Ceramic studio is situated at the Domaine de Val des Prés. They produce and sell handmade local pottery, many with tropical designs based on the flora and fauna of the islands.
‘Spirit Artisanal’, has twenty years of experience in the manufacturing of liquors and is the only business of its kind in the Seychelles. Spirits are made from local natural ingredients, such as citronella, coconut and cinnamon.
Takamaka rum is the true taste of the Seychelles and over the years the family of products has grown to include a white rum, coco rum and vodka; all of which are still made according to the original d’Offay family recipe inspired by the rich Seychellois culture.
Coco D'Amour is the unique tropical coconut liqueur from the Seychelles, made with real coconut extract and is available in the best Seychelles hotels, boutiques and shops.
DiLu Magic Bottles offers a range of bottles all shapes and sizes, filled with sand painted in different colours, from the popular Beau Vallon beach. The bottles are sold in most local boutiques, with all profits donated to the Seychelles association for HIV-Aids.
Kreolfleurage, the only perfume manufacturer in the Indian Ocean, offers perfumes, perfumed lotions and soap, produced on a base of essential oils from the region as well as from all over the world. Located near the beach at North East Point her small laboratory has become a popular tourist attraction on the Mahé.
Mirror painting is a new form of art in the Seychelles introduced by Mr. John Bouzin, a familiar name on the local art scene. The paintings are available at Carrefour des Arts gallery or at the Artisans des Iles souvenir shop at Camion Hall in Victoria.
For 23 years, Elisabeth Ragain’s watercolour paintings have depicted the wonders of the Seychelles, from fine botanical illustrations to marine life. Ms Raguin operates her studio from The Natural Art Gallery at Grand Anse in west Mahé.
Mangouya Studio is situated at Majoie and offers locally made clothes with batiks and tie & dye creations of Paquerette Lablache-Pillay and Benjamine Rose. Both designers were trained in the UK.
Established since 1983 Brijals Trading offers t-shirts, caps, wrap-around and towels, all available on Church Street in Victoria, as well as in various souvenir shops.
