Seychelles Praslin Holidays

Praslin

Praslin is Seychelles’ second largest island. It lies 28 miles to the northeast of Mahé and measures just 7 miles by 3 miles. International flights arrive on Mahé and transfers across to Praslin are either by fast catamaran (45 minutes) or an Air Seychelles domestic flight (15 minutes).

This island is even quieter than Mahé with an even slower pace to daily life. It features truly exquisite sandy beaches such as Anse Lazio and Anse Georgette. For avid and learner divers, Praslin is excellent for scuba diving and is surrounded by some of the most popular dive sites, where you can encounter baby sharks, turtles and families of whale sharks during the months of June-August.

Praslin is the site of the legendary Vallée de Mai, one of Seychelles’s two UNESCO World Heritage Sites. This is where the world-renowned Coco-de-Mer, the world's largest nut, grows high on ancient 40-metre palms. A guided tour will reveal the mysteries of a twilight world that bustles with life from the carpet of leaves of the forest floor to the canopy above, inhabited by tiny frogs, lizards, chameleons, 6 species of endemic palm, and the Seychelles Black Parrot.

Praslin also provides a base for excursions to neighbouring islands including Cousin, Curieuse, St. Pierre, The Sister’s Islands and Coco Island. Some of these islets are important sanctuaries nurturing rare species of endemic flora and fauna.
